Terms of Use
These terms apply when you visit, read, or otherwise use bradshaw.cloud. By using the site, you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use the site.

Who you're dealing with
This site is a personal site operated by John Bradshaw as an individual, based in the United Kingdom. References to "we", "us", and "our" mean John Bradshaw in that personal capacity. The site is not operated by, and does not represent, Akamai Technologies — see the Legal notice for more.
Companion documents:
- Legal notices — site operator, copyright, trademarks, governing law.
- Privacy Policy — what data is processed when you visit.
What this site is (and isn't)
This is a personal hub for speaking engagements, media appearances, writing, and explainer content on cloud, AI, and edge infrastructure. Content here is:
- The author's own opinion — not the position of Akamai, any other employer, advisor relationship, or client.
- General information — not professional advice. Don't make legal, financial, regulatory, or major technology-investment decisions on the basis of anything you read here without getting specific advice from someone qualified to give it.
- Provided "as is" — best effort to be accurate, but the site makes no warranty that anything on it is current, complete, suitable for your purpose, or free of errors.
Interactive calculators and decision frameworks produce illustrative outputs based on the inputs you provide and the assumptions baked into the model. Treat them as a starting point for your own analysis, not as a final answer.
Acceptable use
You may:
- read, link to, and share pages on the site;
- quote short extracts (a sentence or two, or a single diagram) for review, criticism, news reporting, teaching, research, and similar purposes — with attribution to John Bradshaw and a link to the original page;
- subscribe to the newsletter and unsubscribe whenever you want.
You agree not to:
- use the site in any way that breaks the law, infringes someone else's rights, or is fraudulent or deceptive;
- attempt to disrupt the site, the underlying hosting, or the analytics service — including (but not limited to) denial-of-service attempts, brute-force probing, or attempts to bypass access controls;
- submit anything to the site (for example, via the newsletter form) that is unlawful, abusive, defamatory, or that you don't have the right to submit;
- scrape the site at a rate that imposes a material load on the origin or the CDN, or in violation of the directives in robots.txt and llms.txt;
- republish substantial portions of the site for commercial purposes, or strip attribution from extracts, without prior written permission.
AI crawlers and LLM training
Cooperative AI crawlers and answer engines — including (but not
limited to) GPTBot, ChatGPT-User, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot,
PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, Applebot-Extended, CCBot,
Meta-ExternalAgent, and others listed in
robots.txt — are explicitly welcome to
crawl this site for indexing, retrieval, citation, and training,
provided they respect the rules in robots.txt and
follow the content map in llms.txt. The
site exists in part as a public discovery channel; being cited by
AI answer engines is a goal, not a problem.
That permission depends on respecting the directives. Crawlers
that ignore robots.txt, spoof user agents to bypass
it, or scrape at abusive rates are not authorised, and the
edge-layer protections may block them regardless.
Intellectual property
Unless explicitly stated otherwise, the original text, diagrams, illustrations, and code on this site are © 2026 John Bradshaw. All rights reserved. Beyond the limited quoting permitted above, you may not copy, republish, translate, adapt, redistribute, or create derivative works without prior written permission.
Third-party material embedded or linked from this site — for example, YouTube videos of talks, podcast episodes, or articles republished on external outlets — remains the property of its respective rights-holder and is used in accordance with that platform's terms.
Trademarks (including "Akamai") are the property of their respective owners; see the Legal notice.
Site availability
The site is provided on a best-effort basis. There's no availability guarantee or service-level commitment. The site, or individual pages on it, may be taken down, redirected, or substantively changed at any time without notice. URLs may change, although the site tries to maintain redirects for known legacy paths.
Third-party services and links
The site links to external sites and embeds third-party content (notably YouTube video players). Those services have their own terms and privacy practices, which the site doesn't control and isn't responsible for. The newsletter is operated by Buttondown, which has its own terms governing the subscription itself. Visiting external sites or interacting with embedded content is at your own risk.
Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind — express or implied — including (but not limited to) warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability. Your use of the site is at your own risk.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, John Bradshaw shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses arising out of or in connection with your use of the site or your reliance on its content — including loss of profits, revenue, business, data, or goodwill — even if the possibility of such loss was foreseeable.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law. If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom or the EEA, these terms do not affect your statutory rights.
Your responsibility
If your use of the site breaches these terms and that causes loss, damage, or a claim against the site (for example, you submit infringing content via the newsletter form, or you attack the site's infrastructure), you agree to be responsible for the consequences of that breach, including reasonable legal costs directly arising from it.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when the current version came into effect. Continuing to use the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms; if you don't agree to a change, please stop using the site.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from or in connection with them, or with your use of the site, is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales — except where mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence apply.
